Selecting a florist made easy

By STAFF REPORT

One of the most important details that everyone notices on that special day isn't just the dress with the long trane but the bouquet of flowers the bride is holding.

Flowers can make or break a wedding, so you want to be sure to select a florist that has experience with weddings. You'll not only be relying on them to provide the perfect flowers for your wedding but to prepare and deliver them on time.

When choosing a florist, it's a good idea to view some of their work. whether it's photographs of past weddings or going to visit a site that they've prepared.

Pay attention to how attentive the florist is to your concerns and desires on how you want your wedding to look and whether or not they offer suggestions that are appropriate.

In the heat of the moment, looking at the beautiful flowers, you may forget to ask some important questions, other than the logistical details of the how where and when, it's important for you to get a feel for who the florist is. Some florist may not want you to question there abilities and for you to take them at their word.

Here are a few important questions you should ask a potential florist:

Ask if the florist specialized in weddings.
You wouldn't want to hire a florist that primarily arranges flowers for a funeral.

Ask for a list of recent wedding customers.
Sometimes the best way to find out if a florist is worth it is to talk to recent customers. Ask if they were pleased with the arrangements and if the refuse, they're not the florist for you.

Ask to see samples of previous work.
You wouldn't want to choose an interior designer without seeing what rooms they have designed nor should you choose a florist without seeing past arrangements. A florist should have a book full of photographs showcasing their talents.

Ask how many other weddings the florists has booked for your weekend.
You want to be sure that they spend time on your floral arrangements without feeling rushed.

Ask how long they've been in business and how long they've been doing weddings.
Experience is a florists strongest asset. Somone who knows the ins and outs of wedding flower arrangements and is familiar with wedding ceremonies and traditions is a plus.

Remember for ultimate success, it's always important to start looking for a florist more than 6 months before the big day, since most florist start booking reservations 6 months in advance.
